Custom Japanese Knife Handle - Curly mango and bloodwood

This is an octagonal Wa Style Handle made for Japanese style kitchen knives.

The body is made from Indonesian curly mango with bloodwood ferrule and endcap. Depending on the background the bloodwood either looked too red or not red enough compared to in person. I think it’s somewhere in between. 

medium sized, it is suited for 165-180mm Japanese knives. 

Weight: 41 Length: 126.4 mm (5.1”)

Handle is sanded to 600 grit and then coated in 5-6 coats of sealer for longer protection.

Care :

  • Hand wash with soapy water and towel dry.
  • Do not put in dishwasher, nor soak in water for long periods of time.
  • Oil on a fairly regular basis, or sand with 0000 steel wool and reapply a sealer like tru-oil as needed.
