This is an octagonal Wa Style Handle made for Japanese style kitchen knives.
The body is from a nice quality American Cherry with a Brazilian ebony ferrule. Brazilian ebony is not a true ebony, it’s more stable than other ebonies; an interesting wood that starts pale and slowly darkens with time.
Medium sized, it is suited for 210mm Japanese knives.

Handle is sanded to 600 grit and then coated in 5-6 coats of sealer for longer protection.
Care :
- Hand wash with soapy water and towel dry.
- Do not put in dishwasher, nor soak in water for long periods of time.
- Oil on a fairly regular basis, or sand with 0000 steel wool and reapply a sealer like tru-oil as needed.
