This is an octagonal Wa Style Handle made for Japanese style kitchen knives.
The body is from a curly maple with a spalted maple ferrule. After making this handle, the wonderful Fox spirit was summoned :-)
Medium sized, it is suited for 165-210 Japanese knives.
Weight: 50g Length: 132.7mm (5 1/4”)
Handle is sanded to 600 grit and then coated in 5-6 coats of sealer for longer protection.
Care :
- Hand wash with soapy water and towel dry.
- Do not put in dishwasher, nor soak in water for long periods of time.
- Oil on a fairly regular basis, or sand with 0000 steel wool and reapply a sealer like tru-oil as needed.
