Japanese Knife Handle (Wa Handle) - Crosscut Tulipwood

Sold out

This is an octagonal Wa Style Handle made for Japanese style kitchen knives.

The body is made with crosscut Tulipwood, a true Rosewood. This is a very rare handle, as Tulipwood grows as a small spindly tree. It is extremely unusual to have a crosscut piece big enough for a handle like this. The Tulipwood is CITES certified wood that came from old stock.

Medium sized, it is suited for 165-210 Japanese knives.

Weight: 50g, Length: 131mm (5.125")

Handle is sanded to 800 grit then coated in 5-6 coats of sealer for longer protection.

Care :

  • Handwash with soapy water and towel dry.
  • Do not put in dishwasher, nor soak in water for long periods of time. Ever!
  • Oil on a fairly regular basis or sand with 0000 steel wool and reapply a sealer such as tru-oil as needed.
